I hate to do it but it came across my cbssports account while working on my fantasy rankings.........

quote:

2 minutes ago - by Glenn Guilbeau - QB Mettenberger confident he'll play in 2011
Junior college transfer QB Zach Mettenberger on his chances of playing this season: "I definitely think I'm going to get some meaningful snaps this year, and I think I can help the team win this year. But I am third team, and I have to learn the playbook and get ready to play." Tigers RapidReports

BUT 8 minutes earlier Glenn posted:

quote:

8 minutes ago - by Glenn Guilbeau - Mettenberger figures to play this year
New QB Zach Mettenberger said he is on the third string, but he foresees playing time this year because both QBs ahead of him - Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee - are seniors. "I mean coaches would be naive to just play those two this year and go into the 2012 season with a quarterback with no game experience at all." Tigers RapidReports

Yea I heard him talking on the radio on my way home from work. Seems like he will be ready this year if we need him at any point throughout the season.

Even though he is right about it being naive for the coaches to not play him.. I'm not sure he should be talking like that

I can't wait to see him sling the rock though

The jury is still out on ZM.

Anyone with a football IQ could tell he has more to offer than his predecessors.

One major component you look for in a QB is poise, and this kid has it.

So LSU spring game means he's ready to go?

AGree with you 100 per cent. He seems to have that poise and confidence that most coaches are looking for. I support Jefferson and Lee but I do believe that ZM will be the quarterback that we have been looking for since Matt Flynn.

Funny thing is JJ would be crucified for saying the exact same thing

No, it means he has serious touch on the deep ball, something we've been lacking.

I'm not saying he's the next tom Brady, but he's lightyears ahead of Lee and Jefferson in the passing Dept IMO

I'd rather a jury that's still out than one that has already come back with a verdict that JJ and JL are not SEC QB's.....and I mean that with all due respect.

ZM will start at some point this season because fans will be booing when they see JJ doing his usual stuff. It's inevitable.

Highly unlikely unless we start to lose games. As long as the team is winning JJ/JL are the starters.

ZM is the better passer, but as Stud said today he needs more time to learn the offense. Let him learn and be ready for next year. Don't frick him up like we've done with our current ones.

He has incredible zip on the ball and can thread the needle as he did in the spring game.
