How many limits have you caught in the atchafalaya basin in the last 5 years? i have yet to catch a limit, but judging from everybody bitching about the 14" rule, not many others have either.

Icaught 7 last spring in the shell cuts. All really nice, between 2.5 and 4 lbs. No limits though. I know a guy who lives in Pierre Part who can get a limit almost every time.

my father in law catches limits a few times a year. i would put him up against anybody except for a few of those tournament fisherman in the area. I think i have caught seven a couple times, never eight. how long you been fishing in the basin?

10? Fairly easy. 2 man limit of 20 is tougher. But happens. Although I rarely keep that many. Usually I'll just keep 5 or 6 for two meals of fresh fish during the week.
My goal when I go out is to get 5 big bites. (I like to compete with the guys fishing the tourneyments) and I throw back anything over 3lbs
***also depends on time of year*** spring>summert>fall>winter
Eta: people are bitching about the 14" limit rule bc 1) they only bring home a few fish after spending a shite ton of money on the trip and 2) they are just going to die in the next storm or :insertintroductionofnon-nativevegetstionhere:
I've been for changing the limit after Gustav. I'm tired of throwing fish back to die
