This is interesting that i got a few Arkansas mentions. The reason i started the thread was to see if Arkansas would be mentioned. I dont consider them a rival.

I still don't really understand the resistance (from both sides) in accepting that LSU v Arkansas is a rivalry game. Maybe because of the way the conference tried to force it on us?

However, it is in the best interest of both schools to have a mutual No. 1 rival. And for LSU v. Arky, that pretty much leaves one option...each other.

In the short time we've been playing Arky, the actual games, outcomes, and drama have given LSU everything they could want in a true rival. I think some (most?) of us just need to filter out all the BS that was forced (i.e. boot, etc.).

I think that's a huge part of it. I was born in the mid 70's so I missed the true heyday of the LSU-Ole Miss hatred but my father insist there has never been a more intense rivalry anywhere in the nation then between these two teams that existed for decades.

I don't think we'll ever achieve or see that type of passion with the Hogs. Our best bet is to hope Ole Miss out recruits State and USM and returns to some semblance of their former glory for LSU to have a true rival again.
