i think that there are a few things to consider:

1. landon donovan doesn't have too many days free during the summer, weddings do not appear out of thin air, and fixture lists aren't generally available years in advance.
2. i don't think that clint dempsey would have an extremely large window b/w end of the premier league season and the date that he is supposed to report for preseason training. the gold cup complicates the shite out of that. without knowing exactly when the goal cup is going to be played, it's pretty hard to plan around it.

it is freaky as shite that they were married on the same day, though.
