This might surprise you, but plenty of people don't equate success with income.

Do you understand economics? The reason his income is more than yours is that he is more successful.
He earned his contract by being the best at what he does. And what he does is more important than what you do to more people. As much as he is being paid, he is earning more for his sponsers, team owner, etc.

even in zen-like standards, he's successful
IF there is a better basketball player than lebron, the numbers are low
his team was THIS close to being the best, and his team lost to a team with 150% of the payroll
take out income and just judge him by his professional (individual and team) success. he's almost there
