I just don't want to see Gooch out there. Which means we need Boca in the middle to pair with Goodson. So that leaves Bornstein and Lichaj. I'd be ok with either. Two not so good options but we don't have any good options.
Anyway, I think Gooch was more of a liability at the World Cup than Bornstein was. And he doesn't look to have gotten back in form since then either. When Gooch had it together he was obviously far and away a better player but he just looks lost now. Plus, I'd just generally rather have a liability at left back than center back.

The real question is whether or not you go with Ream at CB instead of Lichaj at LB.
I think you do.
Tim Ream has looked good in every cap he's played up to this point, and there aren't a whole lot of teams who can embarrass a defense like Spain, especially when your midfield isn't doing anything with the ball.
But I guess Ream won't be playing since he went the full 90 against spain.
Makes me think it's going to be bornstein.
