Gotta disagree with this. Boot camp was epic/amazing etc. but the actual war portion of this movie kinda sucked IMO.
Apocalypse Now, Saving Private Ryan, and the Deer Hunter are my favs.

I appreciated the attempt to capture the battle for Hue City. It was different from the traditional jungle combat scenes of other Viet Nam movies.
Being a former graduate of Paris Island, it was a pretty accurate depiction of boot camp.
