..i was just taking advantage of an opportunity to use an emoticon i've never used before. i'm not from Lubbock or TX, so i have no natural attachment to the place. i do find it funny that people's default response is to cringe when you tell them you live in Lubbock. I tell people Lubbock is a nice place to live but you'd never want to visit....
it wouldn't make any list of top places i'd want to live in the south/southwest. but, now that i'm here, it isn't bad--friendly people, dirt cheap cost of living, little crime, little traffic, and solid public schools. i'm here for my career and don't plan to be here long term but i don't find it a bad place to live.
