No mention of LSU at all. As was mentioned in a thread last week, he had previously claimed to be narrowed down to LSU, Cal and Ohio State, but now is supposedly considering none of those three. Strange.

With the current state of the LSU program, Gathers best future is elsewhere. And I don't blame him.

Unless LSU shows significant improvement Gathers should take his game to the best fit for him.

I like Trent Johnson and I think he is a good coach, but he has surrounded himself with assistants that have no business being at LSU. He had a chance to make a good hire but chose Nance. If he's this loyal to his assistants it will be the main reason for his losing his job down the road.

Johnson's biggest flaw is he has not embraced the job he has and I don't think he understands the magnitude of the job he has. His personality has not generated much interest from day one at LSU.

I don't understand the infatuation with Nance. The third assistant in a basketball program has little or no affect on wins and losses. It is usually an extremely young person, or an older person filling a "mentor" type role.

You either want to be a Tiger or you don't! WHy don't he come here and help change things?

"best fits him"? fricking dumb attitude. Why doesn't early playing time and resurecting a proud program "fit him"?

Correct......run away and help someone else win

Or

Come here and resurrect this program that needs him.

That is not dumb. Gather's will play early no matter where he goes. His goal obviously is to play in the NBA and he should go to a program that "best fits him" and play for a coach that will help him develop his skills to reach his end goal. If you take off your purple and gold glasses, you can clearly see this. Out of all those big name basketball schools that are offering him, why would he even consider playing ball for a losing program that's in the cellar of a mediocre conference? Each one of those coaches at the schools he's being offered and in his top five are a hell of alot better than Trent. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't blame the guy if he decided not to sign with LSU.

Steve Lavin was fired at his last job and St. John's hasn't been relevant in 20 years. The other schools, I would have to agree with you.

On the early playing time, there are higher rated players than Gathers riding the bench at some big-time programs. I like him and want him at LSU, but nothing about him screams impact player to me. I do not think he will play early at a major program like UConn or Kansas.

Kansas.

He would definitely play early as of now. Kansas is pretty thin on big men. They lost the Morris twins, and Thomas Robinson will probably leave after next year. Also the coaches at Kansas have shown they can develop big men, Cole Aldrich and Markief Morris both improved their offensive games a bunch during their time at Kansas. I want him to go to LSU, but if he doesnt chose LSU hopefully he goes to Kansas.

Aldrich and Morris are both 6-10 plus and are legit big men. Gathers is 6-6 and wants to play on the wing. He has nothing in common with these two players.

They were both offensively challenged big men which Gathers is also. I dont care where he wants to play, he is a power forward and thats what he is going to be. He needs to develop his mid range jumper and continue to rebound and he will be able to be a bench player in the NBA one day.

I see him being a Carl Landry type player

I'm sure that will play a role in his recruitment. I'm sure he will go to a school that agrees to play him on the wing.

If he's that good....LSU will provide him everything he needs to get to the next level.

I'm all for constructive criticism but actually advocating an instate player to leave the state and attend another school is making me question your support.

He's visiting St. Johns. Despite their solid recruiting class, they had like 8 seniors on last years team. They'll come back to reality and people like yourself will wonder "why would he consider St. Johns". With the exception of a handful of programs, basketball success is rarely consistent.

Gathers will be in the league regardless of where he plays at the collegiate level. So why not support him coming to LSU when it only takes a handful of players to make a team a contender. shite, you would think that LSU fans haven't paid attention to the basketball team the last decade to understand the ebb and flow.

Yeah, St. John's makes LSU look consistent.
