Need help converting formats

I'm trying to change these images from png to gif format. When ever I try to change them, it goes from this to this
The other png's I want to convert are and
If someone could just give me a heads up as to what I'm doing wrong or how to fix this it would be really appreciated. Fwiw, I used gimp to cut these out and resize them. They were originally(before I did anything) jpeg but then saved as png after I cut them out.
If you can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

re-open the images in gimp and then do a save as but remember to select the format you want the new file saved in.
