The numbers still do not look good, however he has put some solid swings in the last few games. If we can get him hitting in the .280 range the rest of the season we will be solid 1-9. He seems to be getting an idea of the strike zone at the plate. Keep it up Ross.

i was surprised Edward got the start at 1B. I thought Dozar forced his way in this past weekend.

CPM said on his radio show Sunday that Ross did the same thing in fall practice. It took him a bit to get settled but once he did he started having quality at bats.

Ross might just need time to adjust. If that is the case this dude will have a huge career. Baseball is all about adjustments in my book.(I am by zero means an expert)

I think he was something like 3 time all-state and 3 time all-country coming out of a 5A Florida school with a .450 career batting average. Mainieri mentioned before the season that it would take him some time to adjust. I thought he had some good ab's from day one; making pitchers work. Seems to be improving daily and should be a .300+ guy before season's end.

He doesn't have to be a .300 guy. Catching is a physically demanding position that probably takes 20 points of the usual players batting average. He needs to be great defensively and an average .280 or so at the plate.

.300+ in college would be ideal.

If he hits .285 with 3hr and 30rbi's I would call it a MAJOR successful season. Not great but above average for a freshmen catcher.
