The guy also ran a 4.89 40 at 292lbs in 1987

Just curious but i was thinking that he was smaller then that? I was thinking he was more 270.. maxing out around 280?

Not doubting his strength at all and he was one hell of an athlete. he came up in a comparison of times conversation that i had with someone and it was crazy to think that he would probably be the smallest lineman in our two deep last year.

It would also be amazing to see what he could have done with the facilities that LSU now has.

The facilities wouldnt have mattered. When he signed his initial contract with Detroit he was 295. When he ran that 4.89, he was at 8% bodyfat......the guy was the biggest genetic freak I have ever seen.

BTW, when he squated north of 700, it was not a pussy squat......it was official quality: down low.

Gotta realize that if he carried the fat some college lineman do today, he would have weighed 330.....at 6'2". Sported a 22" neck and wore a size 62 coat.

I knew him personally and even had audience with Chris Spielman. According to Chris, he was the most powerful opponent he had ever come across. THAT is strong.

No offense to Steltz or Jordan (both crazy strong), but strength is only as good as it is functional.
