Why are you selectively choosing one game to judge the falcons' season, and not the previous 16 games they played in the regular season?

Because they played a cupcake schedule. 2 games each against Carolina and Tampa Bay. The NFC West. Cincy and Cleveland. Hell, that's 10-0 without even trying. So they split their "hard" games. Show me a college teams that goes .500 against ranked teams that deserves a title shot.

The BCS system makes more sense in the NFL. There are far fewer teams, so for the most part, teams are able to be tested by every team in their conference. The parody in the NFL is much greater and any middle of the road team can beat the best team. So it makes perfect sense to use the BCS formula and place more importance on a 16 game schedule than on single game elimination playoff.
