students here claim they are the greatest.
Why then is the support for basketball so pathetic?

Attendance mirrors results.

so the students are just bandwagoners? SERIOUSLY, less than 30 in the student section for sec game?

Because students suck!!!!!

we don't all live in BR, you know!

Why are we surprised? LSU with exception of brief periods here and there has never been a basketball school. I think too many of you went to school during the Shaq and Chris Jackson eras so your point of reference is skewed. If we had a Shaq or CJ playing, then you would see a fuller PMAC.

There are actually a more students there than it appears. A greater percentage are sitting above in seats for comfort and because they don't want to be seen with the freaks at court level.

Yea, I actually don't even sit in the student section anymore. I go sit in seats at midcourt because no one is there.

good point --regular attendance from the TAF douchebags is also pathetic

LSU just sucks in general at everything. I'm ready to close down the school if everyone else is.
All in favor?

Negative.
I remember in the 80s, even when LSU had mediocre teams in the years surrounding the two final fours (82-88), the Assembly Center would be packed most nights, especially for SEC games. We're talking sellouts, or near-sellouts. A Tuesday evening game v. a run-of-the-mill Auburn team would routinely pull 12-15k fans.
I think the bottom dropped out after Chris Jackson left, and has only gotten worse.
I personally think it's because the fans don't really have time to "bond" with a team because the really good players leave after a year. The makeup of teams changes so much every year, you can't keep up.
We got to watch the core of the 81 and 86 teams from freshman to seniors. We were invested in those teams emotionally. But now, who gives a shite.
It's just the nature of college basketball these days.

still laughing to how we built a huge lead on auburn at half and win by 7. i expected us to actually lose that game the way it was going.

Win and they will come. It's not very hard. Hype follows the winning and fans follow the hype.

This is definitely true. At the southern game i counted 6 students in the bleacher seats, then another 6 in the sections above. By counting the sections above student attendance actually doubled.
