I do not know about "having their man already"...
but

1) no one talks to, interviews, discusses a job...call it what you want, unless HE is interested....and this is TWICE in a short period of time.

2)as many of us have done..when we have not been offered a job we wanted OR we could not come to terms, we default to the SAVE FACE position..
i.e. "I did not really want it " quote, or
"I decided I liked where I am better"
it's human nature...and the smart thing.

It is also in Michigan's best interest to build-up and/or to allow Miles to keep his stature.

...is there any possibility that Miles decided he was better off at LSU, of course..but I see it as the least likely situation.
..has nothing to do with LSU not being a better place than Michigan, it is, but Miles is a Michigan guy..no matter what he says.
It seems to me that Michigan means more to Miles, than Miles means to Michigan...so LSU it is.

Now, I have no problems with Miles, I have problems with some of Miles' decisions
i.e.
co defensive coordinators fiasco-seems fixed

lack of QB development- to be fixed

clock management-getting better

"playing" discipline-too many penalties still needs fixing

mediocre/predictable offense with SEC opponents
however,
ALL these things are somewhat easy to fix with the right personnel on board...and it appears as if movement is being made in that direction which could mean a SUPER year for LSU coming up.

fixing these problems will allow Miles to really shine where he is best- RECRUITING and RELATIONSHIPS.
