Time will tell if that was a prudent hire, the fire was a no-brainer. For better or worse, he has hitched his wagon to the appeal and the Unproven Suspect Child, Kiffin. Haden does seem to be more tactful about dealing with the NCAA, mindful of the appeal. As for the Rhodes Scholar thing, it is said that the Rhodes Scholarships were instituted with the specific intent of advancing progressivism (American socialism). Is Haden a Democrat? When Haden was playing for the Trojans, the school and its fan base cared about honor/integrity before winning -- and counted me among their fans. quote: His MO is to win things the right way or not at all. Well it WAS. Other than winning a broadcasting job with Notre Dame, he hasn't won anything in a long time. How many programs has he administered? And can he turn around the institution and its fan base? As mentioned in this thread, there is a move afoot to launch a Congressional investigation into the NCAA with USC's case as the focal point of the NCAA's processes. Also, the University of Frivolous Suits has lawyered up (gratifying the fan base enormously) to explore the possibility of legal action against the NCAA, if the appeal does not go their way. Who is behind these two threats? Mr. Do-Things-the-Right-Way? They seem to be intended to intimidate the NCAA, coercing a favorable outcome to the appeal.
It seems as if you are implying the NCAA is above reproach. Newsflash: They, and especially Paul Dee (look up his record at Miami: fox in the henhouse doesn't do it justice) are accountable to member institutions, and must act within the law. The NCAA and its practices will be put under a legal microscope to hold them accountable for any missteps they might have made in not only the prosecution of USC, but several other prominent institutions. This is not about coercion, but about fairness and accountability versus inconsistencies and personal agendas.

With regards to Haden's politics, I have no clue how he votes. All I know is that in addition to the Rhodes Scholarship, he continued his education stateside and became a Juris Doctor, as well as a very successful venture capitalist and member of the board of trustees at USC (even when calling ND's games as their color guy).

Feel free to hop back aboard the bandwagon, but leave the floppy shoes behind.
