I'll ask this here, but why do people assume if LM leaves this

class will completely fall apart?

I understand that a few players would leave, but a bunch of them are committing more to LSU than Les. Assuming the hire, should this come to pass, isn't a complete bust, I think we keep almost all the Louisiana commits and some of the OOS kids.

because if miles leaves, chances are cooper, haley, chavis leave. and a small chance frank wilson leaves, maybe not to follow les but go elsewhere. avery johnson would be gone for next year.

and if we were to lose any of those coaches especially wilson, this class would would crash.

This class would be lucky to finish in the top-10 if Miles is out. Which is okay, but frick, that would suck.

Thus you make it a priority for the new coach to keep Wilson, which any sane coach would do. His ability to recruit is what a head coach dreams of having on his staff.

Again, this will happen any year should Les leave, so it's not the end of the world. LSU is still stocked with talent, and most other schools classes are filling up, so it's not like they will all jump ship.

this thread makes presumptions which are unlikely to occur in real life.

There are two entirely different outcomes which are possible.
1. Rich Rod does not even leave Michigan.
2. RR leaves, but someone else, say the guy from SD, goes to Mich.

I think its unlikely that Les leaves. So speculating about Les and recruiting only weakens LSU in recruits eyes.

You don't know that, Noone on this board does.

Its REALLY late in the process. Thankfully, the "goofball idiot" you guys rag on constantly will more than likely give LSU a big time notice and allow them to look for a coach before he comes up with anything. By doing that, recruits will see that we have a coach a week, or 2 before National signing.

The class certainly wouldn't completely fall apart, but it wouldn't take too many defections for LSU to slip to the lower end of the SEC log jam at the top of the National rankings, which might be seen as a cause for concern. With that said, Miles isn't going anywhere. I think Hoke from SDSU will be UM's next coach.

I don't think we lose any of the guys like Landry or Collins.. or any of the lower ranked guys. I'm worried about guys like Randle, etc.

I'd like to assume Louisiana kids that claim they grew up loving LSU and dreaming of playing at LSU won't leave should Les leave.

As for those bitching about this thread, if you really think recruits are going to freak out over it than you have very little faith in their intelligence. They are obviously hearing Michigan (Les' alma mater) likely will have an opening and he's a potential candidate. It's not ground breaking news that is rampant speculation out of the blue.

I think should Les choose to leave, this class will be fine, although maybe not as good as people hoped for originally.

That sounds about right (as much as I would love Collins to defect, I don't see it happening either), but Auburn, Florida, and Georgia all look like they'll finish strong given the number of available slots they all have open, and could easily hop LSU with only a few decommitments, imo.

The simple, easy, and true answer to your question is... Frank Wilson. Some of the guys in this class comitted to LSU because of him, and the rest comitted because of the university. None of these guys comitted to Miles.

Best case scenario.. Miles goes to Michigan, Stud and Crowton are let go. We bring in Patterson or Harbaugh and tell them they have to keep the rest of the staff to keep the class in place and we get a huge upgrade in the coaching department.

Keeping the staff together has happened before. Hell, they required Les to keep Jimbo when he took the job, so it's not like it's impossible.

Keeping Wilson is a no-brainer. PERIOD.

Absolutely. As long as we keep him I'd be fine with whoever else we hire. I would hope we would keep Chavis though.

I mean they obviously comitted to Miles I mean he is the head coach at the university. What I am saying is Miles wasnt the main reason they comitted to LSU.

I don't think Harbaugh leaves for anything but an NFL job. Patterson would be a good option though. As it stands though, this is likely all mood because I don't think that UM alum would be willing to collect their pennies to try and buy out another coaches contract after the Rich Rod debacle.

We would need to get a really good OC if we got Patterson. Also, I dont like the 4-2-5 that Patterson runs as far as running it in the SEC. Seems like it would be kind of hard to stop the run with that D. Although, we pretty much already run a 4-2-5, so IDK

Agree to disagree then . I think recruits acknowledge as much as we do that LSU wins in-spite of our QB and head coach. But I respect your opinion
