What do you use to extract an image from a video? Also, what do you suggest to use to make animated GIFs?
I'm wanting to extract images from the end of the LSU-Kentucky 2002 game with frat boy's jaw dropping when he realized they actually lost :)

I generally use...
keepvid to save YouTube videos.
AVS to convert, edit, extract frames, etc.
Adobe ImageReady to make GIFs.

I use GIMP for my gifs.
You need GIMP GAP that you can pick up at gimp.org
I find a YouTube video and use
Bender Converter (gives you one free convert a day) to convert to AVI. Save to computer.
In GIMP go to
video>split video and frames>extract video
once it's loaded I pick the frame range I would like to use and re-upload only choosing the video range I want and close the other window. Then begin edit. Once finshed I save as a .gif
