Little known motivational fact:

At every practice for the Cotton Bowl, the LSU scrubs (now days “scout team”) wore red jerseys with a white “21”.

During that track season, some of the track guys wore the jerseys during practice – a pile of mixed, used practice jerseys was available for track people to wear. Some of the football players complained to Mac, he put his foot down, and word came from on high that only track/football players could wear the jerseys. The football players who ran track wouldn’t wear the jerseys because they represented Arkansas’s 21 game winning streak! So the jerseys sat in a pile for the rest of the year before being thrown out.

I was at the game, and also one of guys who now wishes he had kept that red “21” jersey.
