I always sight in at 200 yards and I shoot a .270, I've never really worried (or changed my shot location on a deer) about shooting a deer at 50 yrds or 100 yards. You should be fine with sighting it in at 100 yards for most normal plots; unless you launch some 300+ yarders.

If I shoot 300+ I put the horizontal cross hairs on his back and bull the trigger. If closer than I thought he drops like a rock. If 300 hits vitals
