According to these calculators, a person making $100k in CA vs somebody making $80k in Texas will only bring home ~$600 per month more.
The state taxes are almost $500 per month in California which obviously is a huge hit.
Not sure if ~$600 is enough to cover the increased cost of living. Just for example a decent one bed room apt costs $1300-$1500 to rent in North San Jose.
