Memphis I agree about us probably taking Carter ahead of him.We need a guy that can play right away regardless of what some people on here will say.The young guys, while talented, haven't proven they are ready to step up and support Randle the way we are going to need them to.I have absolutely no problem taking Carter.I just prefer Flowers because over the course of his 4-5 years on campus i think he could be really good.I really like that kid's potential.Still can't figure out what the mystery is behind his low rankings everywhere.
The reason I take Flowers over Rogers is 2 fold.
1-he's bigger, more naturally athletic, more versatile and has more upside.Rogers is a pure slot with speed and quickness. We have a few of those with Shepard,Fobbs,Tolliver,Landry(can play any wr spot but size wise is a slot),Turner and presumably Beckham. We don't have many guys with the athleticism, speed and size that Flowers has.
2-Taking Rogers doesn't guarantee Bridgewater.Rogers has to go somewhere else,Teddy does not.Huge difference in those 2 cases. If Zach commits this week as we expect then that will basically end the speculation of Teddy coming to LSU(realistically). Our own recruiting writers have said as much. How many people would take Rogers without Bridgewater?I wouldn't.If taking Rogers guaranteed Teddy then i'm right there with you but it doesn't.If Brissett guaranteed Maggitt and O'Leary then i'd take that trio over Teddy/Eli.It's always better when the guy you take guarantees another kid that's better also. That's just smart but how realistic are those chances.Better than most teams, fortunately for us, but still very slim.

Wouldn't it be 3 years to play 3 (Just like Mett)? That's what the article says anyway.

HE partied too much as a freshman and messed up in the classroom, got too far behind and his grades didnt cut it for OSU. He would have been the #2 WR this year, or at worst 3. He had strong hands, blocks well, and taught by his daddy

I've heard the opposite about Bridgewater. It looks like the Dwyer trio isn't coming here. The only real possibility of them is Maggitt.

However, Bridgewater seems as if he is going to switch here. What I don't get is why Mett would scare a QB off. Whomever it will be (Teddy or Brissett) will red-shirt next year. It would be dumb to tell them they will see time with Lee, Jefferson, and Mett here.

After that, Bridgewater will be the dual threat for his RS Fr. and Soph. years, and then be able to take over the full helm for the next two years.

If he goes to Miami, he will red-shirt there with Jacory coming back, Stephen Morris and Highsmith (who will likely get a medical red-shirt). Morris would probably red-shirt next year as well with Bridgewater since he lost his this years. Once Jacory is gone, then Teddy is in a 3 person race for the full helm of the offense

I like Brissett in 3 years more than I like Teddy. Just my opinion. But like you said, it looks like the Dwyer trio are probably gonna be Seminoles.

Here's highlights of his senior year in high school. Mind you, he's had a year at OSU, a JuCo year, and two more years of daddy's coaching

He looks solid. Very fundamentally sound. If we get him I could see this

QB-Mett

RB-Ridley, Ford

WR (Outside)-Rueben Randle, Duron Carter
(Slot)-Russell Shepard, Jarvis Landry

TE-Deangelo Peterson

Those would be starters. Pretty scary to think about.

I have to think Landry would easily pass up Shepard. Landry is just so fundamentally sound with everything, and his ONLY knock is he lacks that elite speed. Great hands (just see the catches he makes), excellent route running/vision, and loves blocking (the main thing that got Boone and Wright on the field)

Clarett didn't do any academics; someone else did them for him. One of the reasons he was declared ineligible.

And to the guy who said its rumored Carter left because of lack of playing time, I doubt it. He played in every game as a true freshman.

GeauxAggie,i was in no way implying that i think the Dwyer trio is coming to LSU.I have never believed it and won't until they sign a paper saying so.O'Leary is going to FSU,Maggitt will go to UF if they have room(If they fill up we have a shot) and i believe Brissett will go to FSU as well but I heard that he dropped them.A couple days ago I heard he was down to UNC and LSU.How accurate?I don' know but it was mentioned somewhere.I was just trying to site an example of reasons i'd take certain players over others.
As for Teddy, while interested,i've heard from very good people that he will not be switching.I understand your points as to why LSU is a better option depth wise and agree but kids don't always look at things the same as we do.He could see that he will be the 3rd qb in the class and want no part of it.The guys i talked to said that him switching is still not out of the equation.
I agree about Landry's skills but no way he pushes Shepard out of a role. He'll play a lot but so will Shepard.Russell is too big a threat to take off the field for long periods especially if we have a guy that can get him the ball accurately. His hands definitely need work but i've noticed a lot of his catches and drops this year being partly attributed to some very inaccurate throws. It seems that every time he has some space in front of him the throw is way too low and he has to go to the ground to get it.others seem to be led to far or too far behind him to get any momentum going. With another offseason(and an accurate qb,hopefully Mett)I think he'll make some serious strides next year. You can tell he has the desire to get better and i know we're all hoping he gets the chance to.I love Landry and think he will play a lot next year but he isn't the homerun threat that Shepard is.With good QB play Shepard could be scary in the passing game and the running game.

I would absolutely love to see Teddy in this class, and I believe we really have a legitimate shot at him. There is no way he sees how low on the depth chart he'd be if he goes to Miami. I believe he could easily jump Rivers, and could take over RS Junior year, as already said. He'd be an absolute stud to land, and I really hope we do. A strong running QB never hurts, especially when he has a good arm.

I'd love to have him as well.I think he's special, not only talent wise but as a leader. The guy has the ability to carry a team on his shoulders emotionally. We have a shot but not as high as some people think.Just my opinion and I hope I'm wrong.
