It 100% depends on if he has a better rapport with Mettenberger than he's had with Lee and Jefferson to date.

Kevin Ford would hold Dave Hernandez hostage in the casino Resort studio if that occured.

If Crowton is back I'll just be sickened and expect an offense ranking between 85-110. Great that he and Chavis earn the SAME money...

Crowton did well with Flynn. Texas and Florida also want to fire their OC's.

What kind of job could he get where everybody saves face and parts on amicable terms? Maybe OC at Colorado under McCartney?

Think we're getting the most our of the talent we have at QB?

Answer is no, and the QB coach should've done better with these guys.

I could see him returning, but he should not have a job here next year. Miles needs to look at the Defensive losses we will have after this year, and ask himself can this D maintain it's level of dominance next year. If he thinks the O is gonna have to score more points next year to win games, then tell Crowton you love him, but he can't stay here.

From both a talent and experience perspective, most definitely.

But we're going to miss K. Sheppard the same way that Alabama is missing Rolando McClain.

They miss Cody too. Him and McClain were beasts just like Shep and Nevis. I just don't see us being as dominant. Still good though.

I don't think dominant is out of the question. Our line is going to suffer a letdown from losing Nevis, but we're going to get a HUGE boost from getting Montgomery back assuming his knee is 100% rehabilitated. Truthfully, when you put him back in the lineup and add another year of experience to Brockers, Downs, Mingo, and Maclin, and you put the Freak into the lineup... I actually think we'll be better up front.

The secondary is probably a wash. Losing Peterson is absolutely huge, but as we've seen, Matheiu and Claiborne are more than ready to be top-tier SEC cornerbacks. What's going to be interesting to watch is the safety rotation. How long can Chavis and Cooper really keep Loston and Reid off the field full time? Hatcher and Taylor have the experience, but no one can tell me they're more talented than Reid and Loston. And Reid, at least, looks like he can already recognize packages and schemes. it'll be interesting.

Linebackers remain a concern. As I said, losing Sheppard is going to be huge. Ryan Baker is going to be the next stud at LB, probably as soon as next year. As far as Francois is concerned, I really can't comment. Truthfully, with all the names being called in the front 7 this year, his has been noticeably absent, which concerns me. It's a really big unknown and that's never a good thing. Hopefully Minter and Jones can be ready to step in and have an immediate impact like we've seen in so many other positions.

For those seeking the cliff's notes version.

2009 DL < 2010 DL
2009 LB > 2010 LB
2009 DB = 2010 DB

Good breakdown and good read.

I hope you're right, and I hope we have a change on offense bc we could be even better next year as a team.

Raise a glass to Mettenberger

For a small breakdown on the offensive side, it'll be interesting to see if Ridley stays or goes pro. I could see him hurting himself if he stays the way that Charles Scott did. And with Ford, Blue, and Ware, and with Hill and Hilliard presumably coming in, that's an extremely crowded backfield to have a primary ballcarrier rather than a stable.
