Time to do for Lee what has been done for JJ

Lee was put on the back burner due to costly turnovers. In most of Lee's starts, however, the offense put up reasonably good offensive production numbers. In his time on the field this year, he has mostly been very successful, with some poor plays also. He was a freshman in most of his starts, and a sophomore in the others. As a Jr, he is not great by any means, but has had great moments and on balance has been good.

JJ has had everything catered to him. The offense has been tailored and "simplified" to plays that Crowton and Miles feels are his best, and incoporates those JJ feels most comfortable running (Miles has stated he solicited this input more than once in his pressers and talk shows and statements). JJ has retained his starting role and the first team snaps, and has been given every possible support from the coaches. The offense is still very poorly ranked/performing after 8 games this year as an upperclassman Junior starting QB, which on balance is not as good as his Sophomore full year campaign.

This begs the question as to why Miles does not change gears and try something else. We all know the Einstien quote on his definition of insanity "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".

With 2 weeks prior to Bama, incremental and increasing playing time by Lee over the last few SEC games, in which he predominantly has led a successful and productive offensive approach, and the opportunity to give Lee the same fair treatment he has given to JJ, there is no valid reason to continue "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". Even at its best, like last week, it is inadequate to compete for SEC titles.

What needs to happen?

Miles needs to show he is a fair man as do the following:

1) Review the film and identify the plays that work best for Lee, just as they have (for a long time) for JJ.
2) Ask Lee for his input as they have done for/with JJ. Integrate this into the game plan.
3) Name Lee the starter and give him most of the first team snaps in practice so that he can develop rhythym and rapport better with the starting receivers.
4) Script the first few series of plays for Lee as they have for JJ. Roll him out, etc..whatever is best to get into a flow and rhythym.
5) Let him make some mistakes without over-concern for being yanked. He is going to make some mistakes and poor throws.
6) Don't switch the running backs on every play at first. Give him some sense of normalcy and predictability on the personnel he is on the field with. Murphy, Ware, Ridley, Ford, Shep...that is dizzy.
7) Don't constantly/only stick him in the game when we are behind and in obvious passing situation where his every play is scrutinized without the benefit of getting in the game when a balanced offensive approach would allow him to get a rhythym and to have a chance to hand the ball off also (when it makes sense to).
8) Spend more time practicing pass blocking in practice (assumes something huge here - that Stud can do so effectively, but at least try!)

This would be the fair thing to do for a guy who has been a class act, who is responsible for us having 2 more wins than otherwise this season and maybe more). Yes, without Lee's heroics we would be sitting at 5-3 at best right now with an SEC record of 2-3 ! Yes, you read that right and it is 100% accurate.

Will Miles be fair to Lee?

Probably not.

He is the epitome of inexcplicable decision making.

Expect JJ to start against Bama, and neither QB to get a fair chance at establishing a rhythym in the most important game remaining on our schedule.

I have accepted this. Nothing is going to change.

Rocket Scientist,

great post - almost exactly what I have been advocating for 4 weeks now.

Will it happen? I highly doubt it?

I just knew that the AU game was going to be the game that Lee starts and we do away with the 2 qb system. After watching JJ stumble through his previous games I had it in my mind that LM was finally gonna do what needed to be done. And had a feeling in my gut that it was gonna happen, well I was wrong. And I have given up hope that LM will do what needs to be done this year. Not saying I have given up on the team! I will still root them on. But what has happened this season the awful QB play for half the game is not going to change. If it was going to change it would of changed for the AU game the biggest game of the year to this point. So I will be at the BAMA game rooting on the tigers and will the rest of the year. All along hoping that at the end of the year LM and GC will be gone!!

JJ did a decent job in the 1st half at AU. He's not a passing QB and did work on AU's defense with his legs once Lee went down, and even should have had a passing TD but a wide open receiver (TT i think?) dropped his pass, which was a good pass on the numbers. 2nd half AU's defense lit up our O-line, neither QB could get anything done because AU constantly had pressure on them. Sacks, hurried throws, throwaways, etc. I don't blame either for our loss, but our O-line.

That being said, Lee should be our QB.

I can not understand how anyone can say start JJ before Lee. There is really no comparison. Lee has never been given his fair shake.

When JJ ran out on the field against AU, I knew that our chances just deminished to win the game. I firmly believe that if Lee starts that game, we WIN!!!!

90+% of the subject matter on this board is obvious, but a small portion still do not see that, just as does not Miles himself.

It is ok to state the obvious, and to do so in a logical manner that makes you case, and not just to brainlessly state the obvious. There are some who, for emotional reasons, will not see it this way, but I bet most who read this thread will see that it is stated in an honest, balanced and logical manner.
