What were your initial thoughts?

Initially I thought it seemed pretty stubborn.

The coaches try to out think themselves

And it makes them look silly

probably the right move...but if he were going to use a spy, why would he come out and say it publicly?

What makes you think a spy would've helped in any way? If you don't tackle, it doesn't matter what the gameplan is.

the whole team knew came was getting the ball on just about every 3 down situation and we never could stop him...he was just the best player/athlete on the field

spy or not by the 4th quarter if our defense had not figured out Cam was the only person that was going to carry the ball nothing was going to help. I still dont understand how he could just stand behind the line for 5 or 6 seconds waiting for the end to open up every play. unbeleivable.

well played barn.

I think it doesn't matter... Auburn's offensive line didn't run block once the whole game, all they did was grabbed a hold of lsu's defense adn tried to pull them to the left or right in a series of blatant holding so that cam could get past the line of scrimmage... oregon does this too, but they snap the ball so fast that the refs don't even bother looking for it... it's gimmick football at its best... and whos going to point any fingers at chavis right now? Sure auburn raped LSU's defense... ofcourse LSU's 3 and out pathetic offense had something to do with this.

LSU's defense probably said screw this when Les spotted Auburn 2 drives with Jefferson...

I think, despite what Chavis said, that is basically what Sheppard and Baker were charged with the whole game and simply couldn't do it.

Good he'll bring pressure from the ends and stack the box and blitz.

I still don't understand why I keep hearing that we should have blitzed more on a team that ran the ball 99% of the time. Blitz?

they did figure it out, which is why McCaleb went the distance for the game-winner.

that's their scheme, to let the traps and seal blocks setup and Cam find's the seam. possible some delayed run blitzes up the middle would have worked, but I assume they were trying to minimize the big wide-open spaces that Auburn's scheme is used to create.

When you blitz you don't HAVE to send every LB...

We weren't getting penetration with our front 4 and Cam just waited in the backfield until lanes just opened up for him or our DE's caved in. Send 1 or 2 extra people so he has pressure and he wouldn't be able to run that delay run every time. Also with that play action taking all day (he would just hold the ball in the running backs hands for 3 or 4 seconds) we would have been able to get to him before he had time to think about it.

Exactly, we never did anything to disrupt what Auburn was doing offensively. And never seemed to adjust is what was amazing to me. I've been impressed with adjustments at the half by the defense earlier this year and expected to see some changes in the second half yesterday, but nada!! same things that weren't working in the first half.

Since Miles has been coach at LSU, have they ever shut down the marquee player from another team?
I think of Mcfadden and Tebow who drug us. Any other examples?

Seemed closed-minded because everyone knew that special steps were needed to contain Cam.
