Last drive before the half against Florida

I am watching the replay of the LSU-Florida game, I have an honest question about the last drive before the half. I have noticed that LSU often has good field position and an opportunity to drive for a score just before the end of the first half, but it seems that Coach Miles often plays it conservatively.
After LSU recovered the fumble, there was 1:04 left and LSU had the ball in Florida territory. LSU sent in Jefferson and ran the ball to set up a field goal. But wasn't there plenty of time for LSU to go for the kill and make an effort to drive for a touchdown? That would have made the score 24 to 14 and would have sent a signal that LSU was going for the jugular. Also, in what turned out to be a close game, those potentially lost points could have made a difference.
OK, I have heard some LSU fans say that they agree with the decision, particularly since LSU was playing before a hostile crowd and this was the safest thing to do. I can certainly understand that argument. But I am not talking about LSU trying to do anything rash. Couldn't LSU have opened things up in a relatively safe way to see if they could score 7? Lee was pretty hot on Saturday night and I suspect that he could have led LSU to a touchdown with the 1:04 left in the half. It seems that this was a bit of a lost opportunity.
Any thoughts on this matter?

I think he could have, but I also see the point of taking the points and letting your dominant D keep you in position to win the game. Probably didn't wanna push his luck too early in the game

I've posted here before that I thought it was very poor decision making and we took plays away from ourself. 2nd down w/ 36 sec left. Call timeout right away and you have a ton of options

It's difficult to criticise since we won.
My thought is that clock management and controlling possession was very important going into the half. The last thing you would want to do is to turn it over with a pick or something like that.

Lee had thrown a TD pass on the drive before this. Plus Lee is very good with the hurry up offense. So the Hat puts JJ in

I definitely understand the concern about turning the ball over and losing the possibility of getting some points. But I thought that this was a golden opportunity for us to grab a touchdown, particularly given how well Lee was moving us down the field.

yeah it was a terrible decision by miles to not put lee in and at least attempt to get seven. really no way to deny it.
