Embattled coach...fans and media ripping on him constantly for bad judgment and game management..game is on the line...kick for overtime or fake it and go for the WIN

EASY choice for most coaches...attempt the field goal....no lose position..makes it and goes into overtime..misses it and it was the safe choice..blame the kicker.

BUT NO...Big Nads Les goes for the WIN...EXTREME risk..should it fail, he is RIPPED and possibly fired at the end of the season...makes it an he wins and the detractors say he was lucky...He has the nads to put everything on the line,,,which is why his players do the same...

How anyone cannot be awed at this display of courage I really don 't understand...he plays to WIN...I can't think of another coach that would not have taken the safe path and kicked the field goal.

He recruited every one of the great LSU players and has confidence in them to win games....Luck did not win this game..courage did.

Uh,... not quite.

True, it took nads to make that call.

But it was bad coaching (JJ put in for ineffective drives) that led to the need for such a desperate measure.

And it was luck that the ball wasn't thrown a couple more inches forward, and that it bounced the way it did, and that Jasper was able to hit the one seam in the defenders.

Les and Crowton did some amazing things to put us in the position to win, but Les and Crowton did some bonehead things to put is in the position to lose. When will they stop doing the latter?

EVERY play has a great deal of luck in it..slippery turf, bad calls, dropped passes, etc...EVERY successful play has some aspect of luck to it.

but there is NO luck in going for the win when the safe play is to go for the tie...

amazing..we're 6-0 and we still have unhappy fans thinking about how we MIGHT have lost some of those games, or how we MIGHT lose more...

some people just are happier being unhappy I guess....your ole buddy Saban I think called out LSU fans for their catastrophe syndrome...

did you forget the 'luck' that it took for UF to even be in the game..fumble, interception, KO return , penalties ?

so they knew those calls would be ineffective after working earlier in the game ?

That would have to be the case to be bad coaching. Otherwise, it's football...not every play works every time.

Our defense played lights out as usual, and our offense was tremendously improved. ST for once almost cost us this game. I think Crowton and Miles were very good in getting this team prepared, and executing on the field.

This is exactly what Saban or Meyer would have done. Saban would already have his sideline-meltdown-blame-the-player tirade ready to go.
I also believe this is why they dislike Miles. He has the guts to do what they won't.
I'm proud he's our coach, and I always have been.

Why can't people face fact. LSU has NEVER won a game that luck didn't play a part in.

Luck is part of every football game that has ever been played. Quit trying to remove it from the equation.

Should the game have come down to this??? Or should LSU been ahead by a decent margin at that point?????

Peterson should not have fumbled
jefferson should have not thrown interception
KO return team should not have failed.
players should not have given UF THREE 1st downs on penalties.

WE had MANY bad breaks..all that matters is that we were in a position to win IN SPITE of bad luck, NOT because of good luck...and Les had the nads to go for it..

It was a 53 yarder, not a gimme. The choices were much simpler than you make them out to be. The call took some guts but the likelihood that he would have made that FG from that far out, outdoors, in a hostile environment, was probably less than 20%. Les played the odds.

I disagree. It was the fact that we spotted Florida 14 points with stupid mistakes that led us to such a desperate measure.

I might add that none of the mistakes were caused by coaching. I'm all for JL getting to play more but we have no assurances that JL won't make a mistake.

It't time we look forward and support this "Damn Strong Football Team" and quit the bickering. It's this bickering and criticism that hurts our ranking, our image and more importantly the PLAYERS and coaches.

Well, I don't know bout the easy part cause from that range it's probably 50-50, but no doubt it took backbone and I gotta admire a coach putting the + cross hairs on his back like that after the crap hurled his way the week before after a win.

Anyone can say what they wish, but it's damn sweet to be 6-0, 4-0 after playing 6 BCS schools 3 of which were NR.

Les didnt become a great coach in a weeks time, come on people if that ball doesnt bounce up to jasper perfectly Les is still an idiot, because one play call worked out doesnt make him a great, next game will be close like all the rest

About the time that you live your life never making a mistake. All coaches call plays that don't work all the time. Some times the call runs on 4th down that get stuffed even though they have a Heisman winner in the backfield to call on.
If you are looking for perfection, look at your own life first.

Idiots don't win 80% of their games while playing in the SEC.

Idiots don't rank in the Top 5 of all current coaches in winning percentage.

Your thinking they do might make you an......

Well, lets not go there.

I'll just say:

How sweet it is to be 6-0, 4-0 and in the Top 9 after playing 6 BCS programs 3 of which were NR.
