Steel cased ammo

Anyone ever shot steel cased 9mm ammo? Read conflicting views on what it can do to a gun, how dirty it is, and accuracy. Just curious.

I think shooting steel every once in a while won't do much to a modern firearm.
But here are the issues.
Brass is soft / Steel is hard. Over time Steel is harder on your moving parts...extractors things like this.
Steel will usually have a dirtier powder, because its cheap, so it will usually have a cheaper powder in it that doesn't burn as clean. (may require additional cleaning depending on how you normally clean your pistol) And you may start to get a few FTF if you are shooting 300-400 rounds at a time with this type of ammo. The closer you get to the end you may notice some feed issue because of the build up of powder.

As stated it is usually dirtier. I feed most of my military style rifles steel case ammo and haven't had any trouble. I have also run some through my h&k .40 usp. If you are just looking for something to dump at the range it is fine. I don't know if I would trust it for long range accuracy.

Really just looking for range ammo. I wouldn't shoot more than 100 rounds of steel, and would mix in brass during the session.I'm shootng a Springfield XD9, and want to take good care of it.

I own an XD9 and XD45...you will have no problem running steel thru them.
As i said most all modern firearms will run steel ammo with little to no issues.
