He is clearly looking around. Why would he call for the snap and not be looking for it when it's snapped?

LSU QB's did that the whole game. My impression is the clap is that Peyton Manning-type thing to get the defense to move so the QB can hopefully see something in the D. The ball was usually snapped several ticks after the clap. Watch the QB's, they would clap, then look around the defense, then get the snap on another signal.
