Here's some optimism for you.
Our defense is very solid. When we are attacking the offense we are great, I still don't like sitting back in soft zones, but you can't really argue with our defensive production so far.
Stevan Ridley is a really good running back. He runs hard, has good vision, and has great cutting ability. The line, especially the left side yesterday, is giving him creases to fun through. Our passing game showed some promise with Lee at QB. We even brought back the bubble screen when he was in, which seems like an automatic 7 yd gain whenever we want it.
Special Teams are spectacular. We didn't get the same advantage that we became accustomed to in the previous 4 games, but it is still top notch. We can't expect Jasper to keep bailing us out with 50+ yd FGs every game.
Did you see Florida last night? They have issues just like we do. Do I feel confident that Miles will outcoach Myer, absolutely not, but our players have earned, and deserve our support. They are a 5-0, top 10 ranked football team, regardless of what we think about our coach and OC.
Is that sunshiney enough??

5-0. That's my excuse. You must be really miserable because LSU is winning. I feel sorry for you.

I dont think this thread turned out like he thought it would...

"national championship caliber defense, very good special teams, severely inept offense and the worst coaching and time management that college football has ever seen..."
That is a very fair and objective description of the situation. It will only be a matter of time until the national championship caliber defense and very good special teams are gone if Lesticles remains in charge.

again, i'll pose the question.... what is it that some of you have seen from this team, that give you any optimism GOING FORWARD?? leave out the "we're 5-0" crap... everyone here expected to be 5-0 right now, so you can keep pouring sugar on that turd and calling it a cake, but guess what.... it's still a turd....
let's get real... we have gone from expecting to win every game, to praying not to lose more than 3 per season.... THAT, my sunshine pumping friends, is what so many of the fabled, labeled "negatigers" are pissed about.....
Well, I just spoke to the 6,000,000 Tigers fans that I know and none of them ever "expected to win EVERY game."

no actually, it's turned out EXACTLY like i thought...
plenty of talk about our unblemished record, plenty of talk about the defense, some Ridley speak...
but not a whole lot about the OBVIOUS GLARING problems, that so many of you choose to gloss over...
it's like so many are so happy that today is a pretty day, beautiful outside, nice weather, etc., but there's a god damn hurricane just above the horizon, and despite the forecast, so many fans just choose to ignore it...
which, hey, what every paints your house, buddy... i'll put on a happy face when we win, even though the product on the field has me slitting my wrist on the inside....

The negatigers expect LSU to lose every. When that doesn't happen they are pissed.

+1
The thing that gets me is how we all countdown for months until football season gets here and are so excited but as soon as it gets here 90% of posters start bitching and never stop.
Dont get me wrong, I wanted to shoot Les in the face yesterday and he has got to do something before he loses this team. But football season doesnt last forever as we all know. Right now the Tigers are 5-0 with and outstanding D, Special Teams, and Running game. Yesterday our passing game showed life and made improvements.
I refuse to ruin this football season by ignoring these facts and holding razor blades to my wrists. Whoever is on the LSU sideline will have my support..... as long as they win.

What obvious glaring problems? We found a qb! GC will most likely be relieved of coordinating duties in some sort of fashion because of this last debacle? what problems do you forecast oh nostradomus?

That's healthy. And adult. Please tell me that you aren't over 12 years old.

It was obviously a figure of speech, meant to convey my extreme displeasure with him at the time.

Crowton, whether you choose to believe it or not, isn't the problem....
it's easy to blame the Off. Co-ordinator, when the offense is so bad, but look at what we are running more often then not, when we get in the redzone....
i'll give you a hint... Les went to Michigan... it's BIG 10 football, brah.... run it 3 times, kick the FG, go play defense.... that's our redzone offense....
this is my assessment of what's going on with the playcalling... Crowton and Miles gameplan during the week... Miles, being HC, has the FINAL say over the play going into the huddle.... he'll come over the headset and tell Crowton "keep it with QB here" or "get it to Shep" or whatever, and Crowton selects a play accordingly.... but he doesn't deviate from what Miles' is telling him he wants to run on each play... for example, let say it's 3rd and 2, on our 49, we all know a TE leak to pick up 3 yards would probably work, especially if we've ran it more often than not on 3rd all game...
but Miles, drawing influence from his roots, decides to ground it out, and if we don't get it, punt it and bury the opposition inside the 20 and let the defense step up....

let me edit by saying that i'm not supporting Crowton at all.... but i think that because not one of us TRULY knows who is responsible for the utter lack of offense, G. Crowton gets a lot more heat even though some of it should be directed more at Miles....
i've never been a crowton fan... he's good for a year, then teams figure him out... we all knew that going in...
but after watching every single offensive possession this season, we look a whole lot more like a Big 10 offense than a spread based attack that Crowton likes to generally run....

Yes I understand and believe that Miles has a deal of veto/influence in the philosphy and playcalling. However, in the chicken with our heads cut off last 28 seconds that is on Crowton. He should have had the assistants line the next package up. It took 4-5 seconds before we had anybody running onto the field and if GC had done his job and Miles overrode it the players would have sprinted on the field as soon as JJ went down and Miles would have had to redirect them. But no they didnt get told the package for 4-5 seconds didnt get the play for another 4-5 bumbled around for another 4-5 and then you end up with what we had. Yesterdays clock situation is on GC and yes Miles has responsibility because he is Miles' OC but i think that problem will be remidied

Right here a-hole.
Although, I'm not so much a "sun shine pumper" but just a loyal LSU fan.
I'm proud of our team for never, ever giving up, Winston Churchill would be proud of our effort.
I'm proud of our exceptional head coach Les Miles for rallying the team to victory after the game had all but ended.
I'm proud of John Chavis and all the defensive players for their tenacity and tenaciousness.
And I'm even proud of Gary Crowton for finally getting the offense back on track (434 yards of total offense yesterday).
Overall great, exciting and exhilarating victory. I'm proud of this team. We're undefeated and we will only continue to improve.
It must really suck to be so negative that you are unable to revel in the greatness of yesterday's win. But as they say, happiness is a choice.
Geaux Tigers!
