At first I got the nike+ app. Started walking a mile every day. Then eventually I'd go further. Then try to get achievements and keep beating my times and stuff. After a couple months I was running (jogging) 5k a day. Days I didn't feel like jogging the whole time I would walk some and add a mile or so to my distance.
Once I got the platinum achievement (100 miles/month) I started a workout plan.
Another app to start off. I would do intermediate workouts.
2 muscle groups/3 variations
Monday: chest, late, tri's, bi's, traps
Tuesday: legs, lower back, shoulders, abs.
Wednesday: different variation of Monday
Thursday: different variation of Tuesday
Friday: 3rd variation of Monday
Sat: 3rd variation of Tuesday
After a couple weeks I broke it into 3 muscle groups/2variations
M: chest, last, middle back
T: legs, lower back, traps, shoulders
W: bi/tri/abs
T: second variation of Monday
F: second variation of Tuesday
S: second variation of Wednesday
I alternate the above mentioned every 2 weeks. I still jog a mile after the workouts to keep my cardio up. Usually on a treadmill bc it's getting colder.
Nobody likes getting into running at first. I HATED it. Could shoot hoops or play ball all day but I never liked running for no reason. Once you get into it though, it's really cool. And the nike+ app makes it into a game (sort of) with all the different achievements. I love running now but at first I started just to lose weight. Now it's something I enjoy doing.
