Really???
BJ was great and all but he couldn't do shite all by himself. Considering at the time Hammond,Ponchatoula,Covington where all great teams. Plus the district as a whole was 10x more competitve than it is now...I dont see that happening back then. Either you weren't around or you wasn't paying attention back then.

Wildcat baby!!!!

Seriously, I graduated with you and there is no way you can tell me Corkern was a good coach. I played for him and he was terrible. Plus he did nothing to promote kids for scholarships. NOTHING!!!

Mandeville won bc they had good defenses, for the most part the best talent stayed on that side of the ball. And if you played you should know that the head coach was no ones favorite, except for a rare few. There is a reason why he was fired. When a whole team says they would rather not play at all then play for you, your not that good of a coach. FYI the head coach did not coach the defense.

Look my argument isnt that corkern was a good coach...Trust me I remember the veer right veer left fricking incomplete pass and then put. What the thread said earlier was that Lecompte would have done better in late 90s and early 2000s and what im asking is what has he done up to this point to tell you he would??? What have they done playoff or reg season wise to prove this??

Made it to the the quarter or semis(dont remember which) with a team that that had maybe maybe 5-6 guys that would have started for teams in the past. A good QB, a really good LB corp and 2 good OL men and he took Mand futher than it had ever been before.

Lecompte has been offered a few college jobs but told me he wants to stick around until his children are finished growing up..hes a family man and dosent want to put a burden on his family, no I dont mean head coaching jobs, but just to que you in he is very close with Tony Franklin

To say the least, the summer after we graduated a team mate got a call from Lecompte to come stop by the office. When they did he handed them letters that colleges had sent them, said there was a desk full of them going back like 5 years. No excuse for that.

I agree he did suck when it came to promoting us for colleges. We had alot of talent that was wasted and didnt get many offers from college. When all it would of took was a phone call from him.

How many have gone to Div 1 besides Mauti since he has been there?

If Corkern would have done more recruiting for our guys while he was there I can name at least ten off top my head that would of got pretty good Div 1 offers

Robert Williams, Michael Mauti, Jerry Mitchell, Everet Ellifson are D-1 under Lecompte...but thats not the point, the point is the countless number of D-2,D-3 guys he puts out bc they want to keep playing.Cork would of never done that..Mauti would of gone D-1 with any staff but all the others were from Lecompte

That is the point, he didnt..with that talent back then, many Mandeville players would of gone D-1.

Thats good to hear when your old high school is doing good and actually helping kids get into college...

The only reason I commented on the post was that he made it seem that our teams in late 90s and 2000s werent good and that wasnt the case. Our 2000 team was prolly the best defensive team of this decade still. We shutout at least 5 out of 10 teams that season and no team scored over 17 against us im pretty sure. Those where good times.

Those teams were very solid, I think the argument was that Lecompte does not have the same level of talent that Corkern had to work with..not that those teams werent any good, just yall had alot of better players
