"You are frightened at anything that might be construed as criticism that might ruin your view of the happy flower garden you want to look at through the stained glass window you look at life through."

Rosy Alice in Wonderland Syndrome

"Can't we have adult conversations on here, with balance of both positives and negatives?"

Impossible with so many teenagers and the early 20's crowd

"There is criticism that is warranted for this coaching staff. They've earned every bit of much of what is being given them, however, there is an extreme to it that goes overboard as well.
However, let's just clear the air here, shall we? To be critical of coaches, decisions, or even the play of the team is not being a bad fan, a lesser fan, or an enemy of LSU in any way. For these people CARE enough about LSU to worry about it."

Cheerleading S.Pumpers can't handle any "negativity"

"All of this "stfu" and "prick" stuff is WAAAAAAAY over the top and completely unnecessary."

Name calling is the standard technique for those with weak opinions. They can't attack the message, so they attack the messenger. Chicken / Admins COULD eliminate all the name calling but they wont

Shep has game changing speed. You're an idiot if you really think he wasn't one of the best recruits in the country. The offense last year had tons of potential if he was teamed up with Holliday, but leave it to Miles and Crowton to screw that up and turn it into one of the worst offenses in LSU history.

I am hoping they learned from last year and they find a way to make Shepard the focal point of this offense and force the defense to account for him on every play, if they fail to do this for a 2nd straight season, they need to be fired...at least Crowton

no doubt he is good.....but he is just another face in the crowd....you cant sit here and tell me he will have anymore outcome than hester had on lsu's games when he played?....i mean name a reciever?.....josh reed was not nationwide...but shep can be as good as him at rec but i dont think any better....shep is good but i personally think randle is an nfl starter one day over shep....jus mo....give the coaches a chance to get him more touches this year......much of the play book will be harnessed until florida and auburn and bama......shep cannot be the focal point of the offense unless they move him to qb.....more threats the better....defenses will kill shep and hurt him if lsu focus to much on him.......

He probably won't

We heard this all last year, we're still waiting for the playbook to open up.

quote:

shep cannot be the focal point of the offense unless they move him to qb

Not if we use him as a RB/WR. And for the love of god Crowton....use Shepard on option plays not Jefferson.

quote:

defenses will kill shep and hurt him if lsu focus to much on him.......

You may have a point here. Our coaches aren't smart enough to use Shepard as a decoy, they usually telegraph a play where he will get the ball. But if we can somehow do this and force single coverage on Randle and/or Tolliver it's game over.

If you don't mind an outsiders' perspective...

In my opinion, a head coach's job boils down to 3 primary functions:

1. Recruiting
2. Hiring of right staff
3. Motivation

I think that Les is really, really good at 2 of those. (1 & 3) He's struggled at hiring outside of Bo Pelini.

I can certainly understand the frustrations with Crowton and Chavis (PSU fans have similar gripes with Jay Paterno and Tom Bradley). It just doesn't seem to make any sense with their game adjustments and decisions. I'd be furious with those 2 if I were an LSU fan. Les feels like he's the right guy for the job, but he needs to cut ties when something isn't working.

I think that Dave Baldwin out at Utah State would make a fantastic offensive coordinator at a big school, and Justin Wilcox could probably be wooed from Tennessee.

Just my $.02...

Uh could it be that Ridley is a running back and Shep is a receiver ? Shep is a big play threat and Ridley a ball control back ( yes I know he fumbled). When you are trying to burn clock you give it to the power running back. They had a 20 point lead.

When you don't get the ball, that is hard to do. He gets 2 td's and then sees the ball 3 more times the rest of the game. He was our leading rusher for yards per carry last year. He didn't play in two of our biggest games last year with no explanation. I feel bad for Shep, because he could be a heisman candidate, but the coaches are screwing him.

this is not a contest about who has a losing or medocrity in their heart because of how they live........im telling you what will be dawg!!!..

Anybody who thinks the last two years have been fine is willing to "accept" another 4-5 loss season and think it's OK is embracing mediocrity. As for what will be, I agree with you about this year, but this...
quote:

next year i predict 10-2/11-1.....in 2012....10-2/11-1

...is ridiculous. What quarterback is going to lead that 10-2 or 11-1 team in 2012? And frankly, four years (from 2007 to 2011) is a bit long to wait for a 10-2 season. 10-2 ought to be at least as common as anything worse than that.
quote:

teams go thru hills and valleys

Good teams make the hills last longer than the valleys, not the other way around.
quote:

making a bowl with this team this year will be hard enough

A "big-six" SEC school should be able to sleepwalk to a bowl. You pretty much have to lose 7 games not to get into a bowl. Whether we are going to a bowl or not should NEVER be in question.
quote:

les miles is a very good coach.....nobody else in amercia could come in and out recruit , yeah noboy else in amercia!!!

Every LSU coach since Mike Archer has recruited well. LSU will always naturally recruit well, no matter who the coach is.
quote:

bring in anybody wont change things.

Maybe not, but not bringing in someone definitely won't change things. 4-5 losses per year for three years in a row (assuming your and my prediction for this year comes through) is not cutting it.
quote:

we got chavis thank god

Yes, thank god for a defense that gives up 412 yards passing to a mediocre QB playing without his best WR or his two best RBs.
quote:

les does well with what he has.....

What he has is one of the top 10 programs in the nation historically, with facilities, budget, fan base, recruiting base and national visibility all in the top 10...and he's not sniffing anywhere near the top 10 on the field. That's not doing well with what he has, that's fricking up an almost unfrickupable situation.

If you are responding to me, then why play Shep at all if you are not going to use him. We should just recruit big backs and just run the ball all damn game. If we have the playmakers, get them the ball. Les needs to talk to Sean Payton in my opinion. Reggie Bush is similiar to Shep. Move him around, as a decoy or to get the ball. Put him at TB and at WR. Have him moving in the backfield, have him at QB. No creativity with this offense.

the acc has bc, miami and vt that could beat any team with the exception of alabama , could beat any team in the sec...

Doubtful. The ACC is just like it always is...weak. And a 2nd-tier team that will barely finish in the top half of its division in that weak conference should not be a team that we should lose to, or even almost lose to if they have 9 starters out.
quote:

you dont understand nor do you even know football enought to see what is there and what isnt at lsu this year

Oh, I'm aware of what is and isn't there. What's there is all the resources to be an elite powerhouse. What isn't there is the coaching and organization to perform up to that potential.

6 starters did not play

Starting WR and RB on offense = 2
Three of front four plus all four DBs on defense = 7

7 + 2 =|= 6.

unc prepared their players for weeks knowing they may not play

And our players prepared for much longer than that.
quote:

.improved offense who turned over ball 4 times and had some stupid penalties and still scored 30....

No, the offense did not score 30. It scored 21. It was handed the ball four times in great field position in the first four possessions and had a total of 7 points. It went the entire 2nd half without scoring a point. Against a 2nd-string ACC defense. We got a total of 303 yards, about what our average was last year...when we finished #112 in the nation.
quote:

1st game'
...on road
...against a bowl bound team

It was also UNC's first game, and it was on the road for them, too. And that UNC team (the one with 9 starters out) will be hard-pressed to make it to a bowl. If they don't get those starters back, they will finish 4th in their division of the ACC.
quote:

we will be alright...

That's all in what you think of as "alright". For you, going .500 in the SEC and losing 4-5 games a year is "alright". For an elite program, that's not "alright".

The offense scored 21, and turnovers and penalties are a common reason for offenses not being very good.

As for calling people stupid, I would love it if you studied capitalization. Also, "you're" means "you are." You are stupid would be you're stupid. Your is a indicator of second-person possession. So, basically "your stupid" is a subject, not a statement. Don't be so brilliant.

Hester is now a starter on one of the best offenses in the NFL. Hester was a truly dominant player. You're statement is like saying, sure Chris Paul is good, but he'll never dunk like MJ. I'll also bet you that Shep is drafted higher than Hester.

quote:

....i mean name a reciever?.....josh reed was not nationwide...but shep can be as good as him at rec but i dont think any better

See Biletnikoff Award Winners (Best WR in College Football) So, he won't be any better than the best?
