Here's my email.

I am writing you to express my disgust and shock at the comments made by Dan Hampton regarding Hurricane Katrina and the upcoming Viking-Saints game. These comments are rude, thoughtless, and completely inexcusable. Such a reference to the worst natural disaster in US history is no different than a reference to 9/11 and New York, for which I am sure Mr. Hampton would lose his job. Even more disturbing is the fact that last week marked five year anniversary of the storm that nearly destroyed one of America's greatest cities, and the new was full of references and remembrance of this truely horrific event.

The rebuilding of New Orleans is a testament to the perseverance of its residents and leaders. New Orleans is a true example of a melting pot and community that pulls together in a time of crisis. The great people of the City of New Orleans and the entire Gulf Coast have repeatedly shown their resolve in hard times, and should not be subjected to such thoughtless and insensitive comments. As such, Mr. Hampton should be dealt with accordingly. He owes the city of New Orleans more than some mere words of apology. He should make some substantive gesture for his comments, and possibly suffer a suspension.
