It's actually the exact opposite of what you said. LSU has to be able to run the ball to improve on offense. Our rushing game last season was one of the worst in the NCAA. Teams schemed to stop the passing game.

I believe it's exactly what happened last year. Opposing teams didn't respect our QB play, so they stack the line to stop the run, and if it was a pass play, they would simple put the pressure on JJ where he would take the sack. Granted, there were a few great offensive lines who could run regardless of a lack of a passing game, but in general, the passing game must present a threat to keep the defense honest.

If JJ does not improve on his reads and getting rid of the ball, you will see the defenses stacking the line play run first and rushing the QB if the play turns out to be a pass.

Sorry, but you aren't correct.

This has kind of been a pet peeve of mine throughout the offseason. I've rewatched every game focusing on the defensive alignment. I took three games - Mississippi State, Auburn, and Arkansas - and broke them down play by play to see what type of defense they played against LSU. The results were very lopsided. Teams play pass protection with 7 or less in the box greater than 80% of the time.

Exactly.

FWIW I dont feel JJ is throwing anyone under the bus or paving the way for future failure. He is just saying that his line has made improvements that he feels good about. He understands his desire to not make mistakes last year acutally produced a far less than desireable outcome, and is willing risk more in the pursuit of victory this year. When everyone communicates and trusts each others ability to do their respective jobs, then each individual plays at a higher level.

And sticking feathers up your arse makes you a chicken right?

Facts show that teams were not "stacking the box"

They were shutting down the pass.
