at five points, you want to get on the West bound train and get off at the dome. You already paid to get in Marta, might as well use it.
It will let you out 2 blocks from your seat in the dome, and right among the best of the tailgating.
I wouldn't have a problem with taking marta after the game. marta is scarier when it's lightly used. Saturday night should be busy on most all the trains.

I'm staying near airport. Have done some research and see that I need to take red or gold line (north/south train) to Five Points Station. How long (and dangerous) is the walk from Five Points Station to GA Dome?
What about safety on way back after game? Should I just take a cab?
Just transfer trains at Five Points to the east/west line. GA Dome (may be called World Congress Convention Center, or some BS like that) is only a stop or two away.
There ARE some sketchy areas around the GA Dome. I don't know if I would want to be wandering around there at midnight.

I believe the fare is $2 each way. No fee to transfer from one line to another as long as you don't leave the station. Thus if you ride the north/south line to Five Points, you can transfer to the west line and ride to the GA Dome station. Also note, that some outlying stations charge for parking and others do not (at least during the week), not sure about weekends. We're staying out by Stone Mtn with my in-laws and will drive into Kennsignton or Avondale and hop the train like we always do when we go to Atlanta to watch the Tigers.

They're pretty convenient, actually. I used them before to get to Turner Field and they gave me the nearest spot. It was at a mall, we kept our car there and took it right to the stadium. Then were waiting outside the stadium for us after the game. Which was great, Atlanta traffic is Hell.

What about going from downtown to the buckhead pub crawl...

It stops at 10 or 11pm. But for events they make arrangements to run later. So you'd probably have to drive yourself or do taxi if you're just going out.

MARTA isn't safe
Um...crammed full of college football fans, yes. Nothing but fans mostly in there for event like that, pussy.

Yeah, it was crammed with Braves/Red Sox fans when we went. Safer than driving in the 3 hour long traffic to get to the stadium yourself, IMO.

Wow. Where are you going? Never had that problem leaving the Georgia Dome.

It was to Turner when the Sox were in town. Never actually experienced it, the Marta people told us when the Sox or Yanks come to town to expect 3 hours of traffic/parking time. So they advised us to use marta. Which was fine with me, I hate driving in ATL.

They are full of it. Although getting away from Turner Field is worse than the Georgia Dome imo.
I am guessing it will take me an hour and a half to get home after the game. Hour in traffic and 30 minutes driving.
