Think its fake. Looks too large to be an Orca, but could be a very large male. Male dorsals can be 6 ft.

edit. For reference here is a couple of shots of orcas I have taken.

The largest male orca on record is 32 feet long and that boat looks to be about 28-31 feet, I would guess 28.

This photo is real or I don't think Marlin Mag would publish it.

"As for the prop, it is way under the boat, these are diesel motors and the prop is not at the back of the boat. It's not a fricking bass boat."

Hahaha, couldn't have said it better myself.

Also, something looks out of whack on the stbd transom. The water line does not follow like it should. If there is a fish box of some sort, why have it on the outside of the cockpit area?

Scoop, so are you saying that they just happen to get the largest male orca known to man, on a pic, within 5 feet from the back of their boat, and just happen to have had another boat withing 20 yards to their right to take the picture???

Sure, I would guess that if whales were in the area that there were many boats out there to see them. It is nothing to have big fish come right up to the back of your boat like that. I have touched dolphin swimming along side the boat and have had 500 - 700 pound marlin that close to the boat more than once.

I fish out there a lot and have never seen whales, that's pretty cool. I saw a huge whale shark one time, the big spotted things, and we could have stepped out of the boat and walked on him. He was huge.

That would be nice. I never fish for snapper. We always fish for King, Wahoo, Dolphin and Marlin. I like to troll.

yeah, I am going to say that would be a seven foot dorsal and a 35 foot Orca. Certainly possible but would be a giant among Orcas.

It looks as if Scoop is telling the truth.
