Not as good as streaming movies but for an additional $5 (to add another disc to your plan) you can have unlimited video game rentals. An interesting proposition for some.

I always thought NetFlix should have purchased GameFly and combined the two into one service. It seems like it would be a great combination.

No they aren't. They have a ton of brand recognition, a built in customer base, and an already paid for DVD library to rent out. Go into bankruptcy and come out with just the the NetFlix/RedBox portions. I think they made a mistake by not going toe to toe with NetFlix with online streaming but at the same time that differentiates them. NetFlix is having to delay release dates by a month to get streaming so BlockBuster is able to say they get movies earlier.

There is plenty of room for a slimmer BB in this space. Being able to add a full year of game rentals to your BB plan for the price of one game is a pretty interesting alternative plan for someone who isn't interested in or prepared to take advantage of the online streaming.

I thought so too but I went there not too long ago with my parents and there was a pretty big line at the register. Didn't expect that.

I remember when there used to be 4 or 5 registers running at a blockbuster, and 100+ people in a store almost anytime.

Now I never see more than 1 register and no more than a handful of people.

Well this was in Lake Charles, I've never seen a BB that busy even way back then when we used it all the time.

I still go to Blockbuster, have their online plan and I live right next to one. The one I go to still gets a lot of business. Redbox isn't bad, but their selection isn't that great(if you want older movies) and Blockbuster has many new releases weeks before Netflix and Redbox.

Blockbuster has a huge advantage because they can offer both games and movies. They even have the ability to offer new releases before their competitors. I work for DISH Network and I know that they’re offering new subscribers 3 months free of Blockbuster’s newest services now that they’. This includes video game rentals! LINK
