Its mounted in the boat, the coax connects to a spliter that shares the antenna between my FM/AM and vhf. The stero picks up fine.
I did try to connect the antenna straight to the vhf, but had the same result.
And, no I am not catching the weather channel.

Sounds like its finished. What make radio and antenna? I'm not a fan on using a splitter. get yourself a AM/Fm tape antenna. You can mount that under your console easy. Less connections are a lot better when it comes to this.
