This is the second Pac 10 snapper that Chaparral has produced in consecutive years. Chase Gorham signed with Arizona last year.

It is a very important position..........I mean you can't get Seantrel Henderson to deep snap.

Apparently you can't get him to enroll either.

Each school is different. USC decided to placed a higher premium on the play of their special teams. As with anything, when you are winning, you can do those things as well without so much negative fanfare. They have recruited just as well as LSU during the past decade...so they are stacked with talent where they can afford to offer a scholarship to a Long Snapper. Remember, Coach Miles did the same thing a few years ago, although he had an allotment of 23 plus scholarships to offer. As quiet as it has been kept, Long Snappers are increasingly becoming popular on the high school level nationally...which leads to kids getting a scholarship and the potential to possibly landing a pro job if you are excellent at doing it. So the keyword here again is PREMIUM, USC placed a higher premium on the performance of their special teams. I would love to see the Tigers placed a higher premium on their special teams in terms of blocking punts and extra points ala Va. Tech! Coach Beamer picks certain times of the game when to go for a block punt.

so you're saying that with 15 scholarships alloted per year you'd want Les Miles to sign a long snapper?

No, you are insinuating the wrong thoughts! The response was in regards to seeing LSU placed a PREMIUM on their SPECIAL TEAM'S PLAY as it relates to BLOCKING PUNTS, FIELD GOALS and EXTRA POINTS ala Va. Tech. It does win close games. I am quite sure you remember the National Championship Game against Ohio State University when Ricky Jean-Francios blocked the field goal attempt that changed the momentum and outcome of the entire game. Again, Coach Miles offered a kid (Alex Russian) a scholarship to become the team's long snapper a few years ago (2007), but he had over 23 scholarships when he did it. I never said he should offer someone a scholarship if he had only 15 of them. Let's get it right and not B.S. about something that does not warrant a "FLAME!"

don't be retarded, this thread is about USC taking a commitment from a long snapper despite their severe lack of scholarships. then you said something along the lines of "they place a premium on special teams" and said that you wish Miles did the same thing, etc.
the situations are entirely different. that's besides the fact that LSU has easily the second best special teams unit in the SEC, second to Florida.

I made my point very clear! It has nothing to do with being retarded. It has a lot to do with your misinterpretation of what I wrote.

They are taking the post season ban right now, not schollie limit=--hat is being appealed. We are okay with schollies for the upcoming season.

My God, is it really that hard to take a 5 star athlete and teach him to snap a ball? It is not! All teh other studs just think they are above that and many times a team has to waste a scholly on someone who actually practiced it for a year.

This was the point of the OP!
Just seems crazy to me to burn a scholarship when you know that numbers are about to get TIGHT.

This guy doesn't count against the 15 if he enrolls at midterm.

You would actually be surprised how hard it is to long snap.
If you would ever get out of your computer chair you should try it out sometime
