quote:
SN: Where does this defense stand heading into the fall?
PP: In the spring, I believe we came together. We still have work to do. Other than me, we don't have a corner who's ever played more than a few downs in college. It's tough out there, not like high school. They will go after you no matter what. And we moved Jai Eugene to safety, and safety is way different than corner. So we still have a lot of guys that have never played in a big SEC game at the position they're playing.
quote:
SN: What about your offense?
PP: Well, you have to start with (QB-turned-WR) Russell Shepard. He's a very electrifying young man, and he brings out the best of everybody. He's like me, helping the younger guys. We have a strong receiving corps, with Terrence Toliver back, and Rueben Randle is going to grow. The coaches have to get that offense back rolling how it needs to be. The guys are looking more confident since Russell moved to receiver. I think it's going to be a tough matchup for any defense.
quote:
SN: What about your coach? Les Miles is getting a little negative publicity, and some people are calling for his job. What are you thoughts on whether he's the right guy for LSU?
PP: I hear about that all the time also. It does all fall back on Miles. I do believe he's the guy for the job. He recruited me, and I liked him because he's an up-front guy. Right now, for us, things aren't happening the right way. He just needs to come back for a battle. There are a lot of tough teams on our schedule, and we've got to come to play. It's why Coach Miles has been so big on finishing games. We can't let any more slip away for us and for him.

Peterson will begin his legacy this year, then his brother will finish it in a few years.

Truth!

That's reassuring to hear from a big time player who if he wanted could take a shot a Miles.
So what I'll take from this is...
We have more leadership.
Miles does tell the players something.
The best football player on our team whats to win for him.

No doubt PP is the best player overall on the team. Barring injury, he will be a top-5 drafted in the NFL next year.

We won't let many slip this year.

Russell teaching younger guys at a position he hasn't played consistently yet? Hmmmm...I'm hoping its TT doing the teaching.
On the other hand I like how PP conducted himself in this interview...no over the top guarantees yet he sounded confident. Good job.

Reading comprehension problem? It says he's HELPING the younger guys ... which implies a leadership role.

Irresponsible for a reporter to ask a kid about his coach being on the hot seat. PP gave a decent answer, but that doofus was looking for a quote.

That answer wasn't decent.........It was freaking the truth.......and seemed to be heartfelt........I respect PP a lot more for answering that question like a man.

ATL...you need to show the entire quote, or none of it. It's dishonest and disrespectful to Peterson...
