SEC not expanding

the last few weeks i have been kinda hoping for the SEC to expand. the possibilities of adding new away games and new rivalries had me giddy like a school girl. i was fustrated that SEC was reactionary, and not making the initial push.
then i realized: the conferences making moves are desperate and NEED to make moves. the SEC was simply making sure they werent left behind. the current SEC is almost the perfect product. elite football, up and down basketball teams- when florida isnt going back to back, by far the best baseball conference- with LSU leading the charge. its really a testimate to the conference as a whole we are NOT adding A&M and we'll be just fine.
to the SEC and mike slive who has presided over the domination
how lucky should moo st and south carolina feel about right now?

Frankly the idea of expanding with the right teams would make the SEC even better. The problem is that it would complete disrupt the landscape of the rest of Division I football (as would moves by the PAC-10 or Big-10). The only way to stave off this expansion to super conferences is to institute a playoff. Delaney himself told congress that a 16 team playoff would net the NCAA an extra half a BILLION dollars a year. That's about $5 million per team. Plus it would eliminate the scheduling games teams are playing to try to get to the MNC game.

16 team playoff
i kinda like the idea of 4 megaconferences: each have 2 8 team divisions, have a conference championship game, and a 4 team playoff of each conference champion. just my $.02

The SEC should stay alert for future opportunities and be ready to act.

I merely said 16 teams because that's what discussed in the hearing.
