First of all, if one was to look at how this current "re shuffle" of college athletics has progressed, you must look at some of the tides that began the tsunami. The Missouri Tigers appears to have started the ripple and now it looks as if they could be on the outside looking in. Face it, Mizzou has never really "set the world on fire".

I live near Baylor and the talking heads are claiming that 1,600 jobs will be lost and over 200 hundred million dollar will be missing from Waco's annual income. They have such a limited memory. I am sure it must be their "Baptist" memory. They screwed over TCU in the past. Now they are getting their Armageddon.

So let me get this right. Texas tells Nebraska to hold off talking to Big Ten and to try to keep Big 12 together while at the same time Texas was talking to Big Ten, SEC and PAC 10. Texas is trying to persuade A & M to continue being their "little sister" with a threat of ending the over 100 year rivalry series between them. Texas does not want to play in SEC. Look at who they schedule as non conference opponents. (UTEP, Wyoming, Florida Atlantic, Sister Mary's School for the Blind)they see no reason to submit themselves to the weekly abuse the SEC would subject to them.

Is Texas really that good? Or..should we refer to the quote "If you cannot run with the big dogs then stay on the porch" ?

Finally I must admit as a grad of LSU I am a huge SEC fan. It is the the best "league" and I admit everyone else should try to strive to be as good as them. But lets be realistic and forget out particular feelings.

!. The Big Ten has been "off" for some time now. They desperately want the prestige of ND and are moving towards that. They duped Missouri, took Nebraska and will flirt with Rutgers, Pitt, West Virginia, and Syracuse in order to move ND off of it's perch.

2. The PAC 10 is the second most over rated conference in the land. If it were not for the Rose Bowl being in California, I am not real sure that the BCS would treat it any differently than the MWC.They are trying a coup to boost itself. It could work, but it could have a negative effect if A&M and OU and perhaps Texas does not join their league. The PAC whatever number you choose would be just as bad and overrated.
Now I will admit, Texas and its little girls (OU, OSU, A&M, Tech and Colorado would have a pretty cool deal with just the addition of ASU and UofA on their schedules. Yes they would have to travel to the West Coast a couple of times but that would not be as bad as most claim.
3. The Big East. Holy Crap!!!!! Face it they are truly the RRSC (Red Headed Retarded Stepchild)
They only have two true football teams and those schools overall have poor athletics.

So where am I going with this

Here is my plan. first of all, let the conference re form anyway they want. What will end up will be a total of five 16 member super conferences. Everyone else will be in consolation leagues.

Big Ten,SEC,ACC,MWC, and PAC each get one automatic invite BCS tourney

There will be Five BCS Bowls

Cotton
Fiesta
Rose
Orange
Sugar

Three "at large" bids are awarded resulting in four BCS "First Round" games. This round will be seeded where # 1 plays number # 8 and so on.

Then there will be the four winners "seeded" and pitted in two "Second Round" games. and of course the two winners will play for the national championship.

The bowls will be determined on a year to year rotation.

Other bowl games will continue to exist.

Yes I admit that would mean that two teams would have played a total of 15 games but I feel it would end the moaning and groaning.
