. . . . Texas, A& M, OU, Okla St, Texas Tech, CU needs the Pac-10. Duh! What do they have to offer that the BIG-12 does not already have.
USC is fixing to enter a period of mediocrity and Oregon is down . . . (talking football)Duh2!
The PAC-10 has been the "at best" the 4th best conference is recent years. Just 2 years ago Wash finish the football season at 1-11 and Wash State at 0-12.
This whole conference "pirating" thing has me really perplexed.
It's stupid! It's a waste of money, time & energy.

I dont understand it Either. The BIG10 (even with all of their inferior teams) is still making the most money in the country. I think they started this chit. I feel that they are tired of being the butt of jokes around the nation. As for the Pac 10, I think that they know their brand was on shaky ground to begin with, add the USC sanctions factor and I think they had to go and get a legitimate team to keep them in the spotlight. With no usc you will have a league full of mississippi states and Ole miss, Hence TU and OKl. Thats what Im going with anyway.

I hope the Big 12 will stay together!
Maybe the can get Utah (beat Alabama 2 years ago in Sugar Bowl) and Boise State (pretty strong in football, just ask OU) to join and replace Colorado (who sucks in football and does not even play baseball) and Nebraska.
Maybe Nebraska and Colorado bolted bacause they could never beat Texas & OU.
But, the PAC 10 sucks! Why would they ever want to go join that conference . . . beyond me.

I find it humorous that for the last two years, before the bowl games, I have had to listen to my Longhorn associates argue that the big 12 was the best conference in football and now it is disintegrating.

This post has no merit, please remove it.
The Pac 10 is a viable conference and Washington did not win any games two years ago. There are two Pac 10 teams that we played in football (since that seems to be the sport you are referencing) over the past five years that gave LSU a run for their money. If you look at baseball, the Pac 10 has a team that is currently the one seed. Just like the SEC, the Pac 10 is looking to add televison markets to generate more revenue.
The colleges are looking for the very obvious thing, MONEY!

Thanks for removing the useless topic!

Nebraska leaving, I can understand - way more money than Big 12 in the Big 10. This whole Pac - 16 thing, I'm not so sure about. As I see it, two things come to mind - 1.MONEY - I have heard many rumors that a huge TV contract would be extended for this conference. 2. Prestige - the Pac - 16 would have a conference playoff game, something that theoretically will bring additional money, and bolster the winner's (and loser as well) chances of participation in a BCS game, particularly the championship game, something the SEC has had a stranglehold on the last 4 or 5 years. The reality to me is it is the old PAC - 8, which is not partularly strong right now, especially with USC's sanctions, and a collection of the Arizona schools, Texas, and Texas' bitches, maybe minus Texas greatest traditional rival, A&M, and the OK schools. This is a tremendous collection of schools over a great geographic area. Whether this works commercially, only time will tell. To me, it truly shows that politics and money make strange bedfellows! KC.
