Ruths in SLC just north of the zoo best biscuit you'll ever have.
red iguana in downtown best mexican in town
Tuscany in Cottonwood Heights best restaurant in town buts its high but its worth it trust me

Faustina was the only non-chain I ate at in SLC. We came away pretty impressed. It's pretty pricey, but great food, atmosphere, and service.

On a related note...if you experience a 1-2 hour wait anywhere. Go check out the bar. It's usually empty and you can sit and eat immediately. We did this probably 5 of 7 days last January.
