You think that has anything to do with the fact that all NFL teams dont play each other in the regular season? And all NBA teams dont play each other in the regular season. Same goes for MLB.
NASCAR happens to be the opposite. Every driver races every week on the same track.

No, it has to do with the fact that if you want to be crowned champion you have to show up all season long
