As soon as Miles took over the program, they all became his players. To my knowledge, none of them came with Saban to Miami or transferred to Alabama when he came back to college
why did he start to decline once sabans players left?
quote:

Saban: 48 - 16 Miles: 51 - 15
saban had 3 11 game regular seasons , miles only had 1, add 2 more rent a wins for saban, 50-16 & take away miles 3 rent a wins 48-15
quote:

Dooley: first-year SEC coachMullen: lost to LSU when the had Dixon on the roster...
Saban: has had to eek out wins against a down LSU team for the last two years
Nutt: is facing severe loss of talent to the NFL and is starting a new QB
Meyer: is not coaching next year
Davis: had a worse offense than LSU last year
Petrino: Mallett gives them a good chance to win, and LSU fades at the end of the season. If anyone could be "confident" about playing us, it's them
any of these games lsu wins, will be a struggle like always

Rather than reinforce my argument that once Miles took over in 2005, every player on the roster became his player, I'll humor your argument and point out that lack of leadership at the QB position and lack of organization on the defense led to the decline in 2008 due to unexpected personnel losses.

First, you're not the NCAA. You can't add and subtract wins on a whim to make a point. Even if you were, the method would be to either add wins to one coach OR subtract from the other, not both. Just for fun, why don't we compare winning percentages, something not influenced by the number of games coached...

Miles: .772
Saban: .750

Like always...? So... for 114 years.. and in that time, there has not been one game that we have soundly beaten an opponent? Or did you mean always under Miles? You might want to look over his track record again...

uhhhh, RP. Ring any bells. Didn't think so, usually doesn't for Miles bashers.

Okay. I get it. You give them to one guy and take them away from the other to prove your point.

We got it.

Let's see what happens this year. Bottom is that we have not dominated jack the last 2 years.
Miles lays a dump - he is out of here. The discussion is over.
Miles gets 9 wins with our schedule - he gets another year.
Miles gets double digit wins - he gets a contract roll over for another year.
What will be the toss up is an 8 - 4 regular season. The bowl results may make the difference in that scenario. Losses for 3 straight years to OM, AL and FL might get have him an early retirement on the Skip Powerball annunity plan.
Bottom line is that he needs to win. And they all could be "ugly" wins. Just win.
Whatever direction it takes - it is a win/win for Miles but not necessarily LSU.
