quote:i agree, he desrved to get kicked off the team, but everybody knew he was a head case coming out of high school, & miles had no backup plan. the best he could do was hatch, & a redshirt freshmen?
He also had the stones to cut him loose when he had to know the situation it would put him in

And that is my biggest problem with Miles but I also have to wonder what kid would sign in '06 sitting behind Russell, Flynn and Perilloux. '07 brought Lee, supposedly one of the top 15 QBs in the nation.
We are where we are. Hopefully, one of the guys picks up the challenge and runs with it.

It would F up recruiting in a key year.
quote:at nearly 4 mil a year, there are many qualified candidates that would want to be here and do a fine job....
And then who do we bring in?
Pellini, Muschamp, Butch Davis, Dooley ????

Miles never opened up the QB competition this year. All Spring it was JJ. There shall be no QB controversy on this team. The only way JL has a chance to play is if JJ gets hurt.

You absolutely must turn in your fan card.
This is a LIE

You can not Love the Tigers and wish them horrible seasons under ANY circumstances.
"You are hereby BANISHED from Tiger fandom and the football gods will punish you for any further attempts to proclaim yourself a Tiger"
So it is written, and so it shall be done.

And what people don't understand is this (not having a back up to RP) is really more Saban's fault than Miles.
Saban recruited NO QBs in the 04' class and had none on the hook for the 05' class.
AND because Saban played his "I'm happy at LSU and will NOT be coaching at Miami" game LSU was late in starting/securing the next Head Coach.
Therefore, Miles, when he became that next head coach was WAAAAAAY behind in recruiting AND only had 15 0r 16 Scholarships to give.
Landing RP was considered a major accomplishment as he was the top QB in the nation at the time.
QBs don't grow on trees and Miles did not 'inherit' an ideal situation in that department.
The time bomb (RP) went off and 2008/2009 was the casualty of that explosion.
I'm not totally confident in JJ or JL at this point but I think they both have the potential and both deserve our RESPECT and patience.
Get behind them (and OUR Coach) and GEAUX TIGERS!

Miles had numerous recruiting seasons to bring in another highly rated QB.
USC and FL have top ranked QBs waiting in the wings. The nobody would come here because we had RP is BS.
Bottom line is that Miles did not properly look ahead in QB recruiting or that JJ and JL may not have been the eventual answer as he thought. Either way, it could be a player evaluation issue in talent or planning for the future.
JJ is our QB and we need to support him while hoping for the best.

The argument is that nobody would come to play quarterback because we had the number one high school quarterback on the team AND two future NFL players.
As far as your reference to Southern Cal.. if their QB depth was so good, why did they start a true freshman last year?

This. Coaches typically don't recruit players they feel won't help the program. Lee was supposed to be similar to Flynn and Mauck.. it just never happened.

Because the freshman that started could very well be the #1 NFL draft pick after his Jr year at USC.
Some schools put the best talent on the field regardless of experience.

IMy question is who do we get that is better? We saw how difficult it was for USC, Tenn, and ND to land a quality coach. I would like to see the Boise coach come here, but he turned down every job offered.
I realize the complaints are valid, but Les has kept us competitive the last years. He has a top ranked class coming in, and a possible #1 next year. We all hate that Saban won another title, but remember not all years were great under Nick. Support the coach, and let's wait till fall before calling for his head.

quote:not reaching much much huh? so saban has to recruit a qb for miles for 4-5 years after he's gone? miles just finished his 6th class, & he has yet to recruit & develope a qb. sorry this ain't saban's fault.

Saban actually messed up our program more he helped. Really - he left Miles a program in worse condition than when he took over.
Miles on the other hand accomplished an immediate turn around of Saban's mess and we have improved overall every year in his tenure.
