Why Dinardo Was Hired
I was just looking at his previous stop's record and he never had a winning record at Vandy. Why was he given the keys to the LSU program?

Nobody had winning seasons at Vandy. Their 2008 winning season was their first in 24 years. DiNardo had Vandy playing very competitively and they did go 5-6 a time or two under his leadership. In addition, we were in a bit of a bind with the Pat Sullivan hire falling through like it did, so we had to go with our second (or possibly lower) choice. Joe Dean was the AD, so we were, as always, going on the cheap, which eliminated any real top-tier candidates. All things considered, DiNardo seemed like a pretty good choice at the time. It wasn't until he had been here a while that his personality issues screwed things up.
