Made all three games this weekend and all were pretty good games. Todays was closer than the score shows. With this sweep slu should be in the top 25 in all polls. We will see.

fightingtiger you know im not a big fan of yours but for once we can agree. FWIW those people in the one on the rant do not have a clue about slu. There a 20-25 team RIGHT NOW. Things can change. Most of the legit polls agree with us. We will see tomorrow.

i want SLU to be ranked.. but lets not cherry pick polls..
ill post a little something on one of those 'non legit' polls in a little while..

Polls mean nothing at this point I agree. Baseball is a crazy game. SLU is a top 25 team however. It's not cherry picking polls to post the ones SLU is ranked higher in. Those polls are ,IMO(does not mean its right) the more accurate polls. Baseball has post season for a reason. Good chance SLU will be in the LSU reg. Anything can happen.

the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll has SLU 35th..
i assume you think its not legit because of the voters..??
so, lets look at those voters..
Terry Alexander, Jacksonville;
John Anderson, Minnesota;
Ed Blankmeyer, St. John's;
Rob Cooper, Wright State;
Sherman Corbett, Texas-San Antonio;
Tim Corbin, Vanderbilt;
David Eldredge, Southern Utah;
Mike Gaski, North Carolina-Greensboro;
Nino Giarratano, San Francisco;
Gary Gilmore, Coastal Carolina;
Keith Guttin, Missouri State;
Danny Hall, Georgia Tech;
Daniel Heefner, Dallas Baptist;
Loren Hibbs, Charlotte;
Charlie Hickey, Central Connecticut State;
George Horton, Oregon;
Steve Jaksa, Central Michigan;
Omar Johnson, Jackson State;
Rick Jones, Tulane;
Steve Kittrell, South Alabama;
Paul Kostacopoulos, Navy;
Kevin Leighton, Manhattan;
Gary McClure, Austin Peay;
Mervyl Melendez, Bethune-Cookman;
Gary Powers, Nevada;
Mark Scalf, North Carolina-Wilmington;
Jim Schlossnagle, TCU;
Matt Senk, Stony Brook;
Doug Smith, UC-Riverside;
Steve Smith, Baylor;
Bob Whalen, Dartmouth
coaches in bold took their team to the tournament last year.. underlined coaches have had great success as coaches.. and the little nugget in italics coaches the team SLU just swept to hopefully vault them into the top 25 of all polls.. lets assume these guys know college baseball..
now, i dont want to argue with you guys about SLU.. i hope they climb the polls all year, enough so to not get placed in the BR regional and do some damage somewhere..

i think the USA Today/ESPN Coaches, Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America are the most legit.. i've never paid attention to the Rivals and NCBWA though..

Collegiate Baseball and BA are much more comprehensive than USA Today/ESPN COaches.
The problem with the ESPN is the same as the college football one. It is filled out by sports information directors who have even less data to work with when developing their votes concerning the other 200 schools with D1 programs.
Now thats not to say that SLU isn't going to be a strong program this year... just take the coaches voting with a grain of salt. Who did SLU sweep anyways?

Hey man I said IMO. That means you can have yours as well. I do not have to agree with you and you do not have to agree with me. Unless you have watched SLU as much as I have (only missed the ULL game) and I have been to 3 LSU games. I see the distance between LSU(which is a top 5 team people say) and SLU(which is not according to you AT THIS POINT). Notice the at this point cause I noticed you said you hope they are. After watching both teams SLU is not as good as lsu of course but they are not 34 teams between LSU and SLU like those polls say. SO either lsu should be ranked in the teens or SLU should be ranked in the top 25. ITs all IMO and like I said im all for you having your own opinion. lol

Baseball America: UNR
Collegiate Baseball: 17
USA Today/ESPN Coaches: 31
Rivals: UNR
NCBWA: 30 (moved up 16 spots though)
the one poll that had SELA ranked already, moved them up to #17.. they are still out of the top 25 in all others released.. like i said, there werent enough teams ahead of them that had bad weeks.. maybe next week, they McNeese this weekend.. and ULL mid-week.. actually, they dont have any real tough weekend series, so they should be top 15 in all polls by the end of the year.. they only have some midweek games against Bama and LSU that are noteworthy..

Southland is tough to tell. Last year they were super close to being a 3 bid league. SLU was one of those "last 4 out" teams.
So the competition is there..just not alot of name recognition..and in conference anything can happen in baseball. But if they can take their 2 out of 3 on the road I think any team in any conference would be happy with that.

who was the other team that was pretty good last year in the Southland? i remember somebody, just cant recall..
also, you guys moved up to 30th in the NCBWA Top 30.. so it looks like we kind of split on our opinions..
i was just checking out Warren Nolan also.. ASUs SOS is 165th right now.. UVA now has my vote for #1..
i am REALLY hoping that Bama gets a regional and SLU gets the 2 seed in that regional..

Yeah I really dont want SLU getting the 2nd seed in BR....be too tough on my insides.
Wherever SLU goes though i'll make the trip. Just for it being so new would be a blast.
Last year Texas State was around the top 25 and my mind is slipping the team that was the conf. automatic bid.

If SLU plays LSU in post season I will have to go for SLU because I have followed them more and my best friend is on the team. I would MUCH MUCH rather they not put them together.
